How Tadalafil Works
Tadalafil blocks the PDE5 enzyme, so the vessels supplying the penis stay relaxed when sexual stimulation releases nitric oxide and blood flow rises enough to produce an erection. Alpha blockers, blood pressure medicines and substantial amounts of alcohol, about five units or more, can also lower pressure too far. Grapefruit and grapefruit juice should be discussed with a doctor because they raise tadalafil levels.
