Product overview
Aspirin - Ecosprin Gastro-Resistant 75 mg Tablets
Aspirin is a salicylate used to lower fever and to relieve mild to moderate pain and inflammation. At low daily doses it prevents heart attacks, strokes and mini-strokes, and reduces the risk of death during a heart attack. It is supplied as Ecosprin Gastro-Resistant 75 mg tablets, 28 per pack, made by USV. The gastro-resistant coating lets the tablet pass through the stomach before dissolving, and this is the form most often used for long-term heart protection. It is often prescribed with an antiplatelet such as Clopidogrel or a statin such as Rosuvastatin.

How Aspirin Works
Aspirin blocks the natural substances that cause fever, pain, swelling and blood clotting. The clotting effect is why a small daily dose protects people whose arteries are narrowed, and because clotting is reduced, bleeding takes longer to stop. The same effect means it adds to the bleeding risk of clopidogrel, other antiplatelets and NSAIDs, and blood pressure is managed separately with a medicine such as Telmisartan.
Dosage & Administration
For heart and stroke protection the routine is one low-dose tablet once a day; for pain or fever, ordinary aspirin is taken every four to six hours as needed, following the pack or your doctor. Swallow gastro-resistant tablets whole with water. If you miss a daily dose, take it when you remember unless the next is almost due, and never double up. Tell your doctor or dentist about aspirin before any surgery, including dental work. Do not give aspirin to children or teenagers, because it can cause Reye's syndrome, especially during chickenpox or flu. Ask your doctor before using ibuprofen as well, and if you drink three or more alcoholic drinks a day. Report stomach pain, heartburn, bloody vomit, ringing in the ears, rash or difficulty breathing.

FAQ
Before you ask
Questions, answered
A low daily dose of aspirin is used to prevent heart attacks, strokes and mini-strokes, and to reduce the risk of death during a heart attack. At higher doses the same medicine lowers fever and relieves mild to moderate pain and inflammation. It does not replace treatment for the underlying condition.
Swallow the gastro-resistant tablet whole with water, once a day at about the same time. For pain or fever a different, ordinary aspirin product is taken every four to six hours as needed. If you miss a daily dose, take it when you remember unless the next is almost due, and never take two doses at once.
Common effects are nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and heartburn. Get medical help for bloody or coffee-ground vomit, ringing in the ears or hearing loss, rash or hives, swelling of the eyes, face, lips, tongue or throat, wheezing or difficulty breathing, a fast heartbeat, fast breathing or cold, clammy skin.
No. Aspirin should not be given to children or teenagers, because it can cause Reye's syndrome, a serious condition affecting the brain and liver, particularly during chickenpox or flu. Use a different medicine for fever and pain in this age group and ask a pharmacist.
Yes. If you take a daily preventive dose, do not take ibuprofen for pain or fever without asking your doctor, who will usually space the doses apart. Tell your doctor about every medicine you take, and mention aspirin before surgery or dental work, because it increases bleeding and stomach irritation, especially with other blood thinners.
